Primary Research

For our primary research, we send an online survey using Google forms and personally interview four respondents. The online survey collected 60 responses, in which 61.4% are people under 18, 29,8% 18-30 years old, 8,8% 41-50 years old, 84,2% came from indonesia.

1. What do you think about overpopulation in general?

R1: A huge problem experienced around the world but not in singapore.

R2: Australia's population is around 25 million so its crowded and overpopulated

R3: basically when amount of people exceed amount of homes

R4: when a country experience to much people


2.  What factors do you believe contribute to overpopulation the most?

R1: believed to be because of family planning to too big

R2: big sized family

R3: due to big family planning

3. Do you have difficulties by overpopulation? If so please elaborate.

R1: No because singapore is not really overpopulated

R2: no but i experience traffic due to a lot of people having cars

R3: yes because i always wait for the lift to long

R4: yes because there is too much traffic in indonesia


4. Is your life affected by overpopulation? If so please elaborate.

R1: no because in singapore is not really crowded

R2: not really, because australia is not really overpopulated but there is traffic.

R3: Yes, because of the traffic 5m travel becomes 30m

R4: Yes, because of the heavy traffic everywhere i go


5. How do you cope with overpopulation in your area?

R1: i think the government has done various jobs to make sure this does not happen.

R2: i think you just find a way to deal with it

R3: I would go anywhere an hour early so i wont be late

R4: i would make sure to use a faster path to the location


6.  How does overpopulation contribute to unemployment and poverty?

R1: when there is to many people most wont be able to be empoyed

R2: ⁠overpopulation means like more people so if too much not all can be employed therefore causing unemployment and when they have no job they will be in poverty

R3: most people cant access to education which is hard to find job

R4: education is limited


7. In what ways does overpopulation impact access to education and healthcare?

R1: when there is too many people there wont be enough school

R2: too many people wont be able to attend school since it can be full

R3: overpopulation can lead to people being unemplayed whick means they cant afford education

R4: many children wont be able to study due to full schools


8. Do you think family should have limit to having children based on their income?

R1: yes so overpopulation can be decreased.

R2: yes so its reduce risk of children living in poverty.

R3: yes because less risk of financial problems

R4: yes to reduce risk of parent not able to afford basic needs


9.  What measure have been taken to reduce overpopulation in your country?

R1: yes singapore has apply some policy about birth

R2: yes australian government apply some measurement to avoid overpopulation

R3: yes marriage age has been increased

R4: yes its about a marriage policies


10.  Should government make birth control method free and widely available?

R1: yes so people will have less risk of unwanted birth

R2: yes so people wont have to risk their personal wealth to raise a baby

R3: yes for poor people so they have chance to increase income

R4: yes so there wont be overpopulation


11.  Should government implement strict family planning policies to control population growth? Why or why not?

R1:yes so people won't experience overpopulation in the future

R2:yes so the country wont be facing poverty risk

R3:yes so the country dont have to give poverty benefits

R4:yes to reduce population


12.  Do you think enforcing a child limit per family is a good solution? Why or why not?

R1: yes so the country won't be experiencing overpopulation

R2: yes its a good idea since the world is facing overpopulation
